How to install the Xerox Displays Monitor Driver:

Xerox Displays'S Plug & Play monitors are designed to work with Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP operating system. Xerox Displays monitors comply with VESA DDC (Display Data Channel) Standards and are Plug & Play compatible. With the use of a DDC compatible video card, the EDID (Extended Display Identification)can be read from the Xerox Displays Monitor by Plug & Play compatible software, such as Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP.In order for Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP to detect the new monitor, you must ensure that the following minimum requirements are met:

(1).A DDC compatible video card is installed. If your video card is not DDC compatible, then auto-detection will not work.

(2).DDC detection is enabled in Windows '95/98/2000/ME/XP.This should be the case if you installed a DDC compatible video card. The *.INF file supplied with the video card should enable DDC in Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP. If this is not the case, then auto-detection will fail.

(3).A DDC compatible monitor with its *.INF file installed into Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP.

My Xerox Displays monitor constantly flickers after I installed the Windows XP OS. Does my monitor support WinXP?

Xerox Displays monitors supports Windows XP OS, the reason why your monitor flicker maybe caused by refresh rate of your monitor that was set too low. Please refer to Setting your Refresh Rate section of the FAQ.

When I first boot up my monitor, I saw the Windows Logo but after a couple of seconds my monitor displays "VGA Mode Not Supported"

There is nothing wrong with your monitor, probably you have set your monitor refresh rate frequency too high and that the monitor can support. Please refer to the monitors Product specification – Vertical & Horizontal Synchronization range section of your monitor's user manual. We recommend you to use the recommended resolution and refresh rate of your monitor. Please refer to FAQ # ?? in how to reset back to the allowable resolution and refresh rate of your monitor.

Does Xerox Displays have a Driver for WinXP?

Xerox Displays monitors support Windows XP OS but currently we do not have a driver specifically for this Operating System. Xerox Displays monitors do not need the monitor driver for it will automatically detect the unit as "Default or Plug & Play monitor", just like WinNT or Win2000. However, the driver posted for download in our website www.Xerox-Displays.com will still work with WinXP OS. The driver installation procedure is similar to Windows 95/98/98SE & WinME OS. Even though it will show the error massage while installing.

Some Xerox Displays model monitors are Wall Mountable. Xerox Displays do not include the Wall Mounts with the product. Any wall mount with this type of standard will work for the monitor.

I’m getting a red (green or blue) tint on the monitor, what might be the cause?

If the monitor has a consistent tint throughout, then check the user controls for color. Disconnect the signal cable if the check signal cable OSD appears normal, then check the video adapter or signal cable. Signal cable can cause a missing color. If the problem still persists, please contact Xerox Displays Technical support at (800) 776-8439.

Why do I only get 16 colors as my choice for colors OR why is my only resolution option 640x480?

This issue has to do with the video card in the computer...NOT with the monitor. The monitor will do unlimited colors BUT it's the video card and it's driver that give you those choices.

We would recommend installing the latest drivers for your video card.

What do I do if my monitor's orange LED Light is on, but I don't see anything on my monitor?

This typically indicates that the monitor is not receiving a video signal from the video card in the computer. You should verify that the card is the problem by trying the monitor on a different, working system. You should get an image. If the same thing happens on a different system, the monitor may need to be repaired.

Why do images and fonts on my LCD look choppy and/or blurry?

Unlike CRT displays, the LCD panel has a fixed pixel format over a set area.

In order for LCD's to expand resolutions to full screen an interpolation must be performed. When the interpolated resolution is not an exact multiple of the native resolution some lines appear thicker than others.

For 15"panels: The fixed pixel format for 15" LCD panels means that the native resolution of the LCD panel is 1024 x 768. Resolutions lower than the pixel count of the LCD module result in text that appears choppy and lines that are bold.

To fix the problem change you monitor settings to the recommended resolution & refresh rate. (1024 x 768 at 75 Hz)

What does NTSC stand for?

NTSC is an acronym that stands for National Television Systems Committee. The name of the television and video standard in use in the United States. Consists of 525 horizontal lines at a field rate of 60 fields per second. (Two fields equals one complete Frame). Only 486 of these lines are used for picture. The rest are used for sync and extra information such as VITC and Closed Captioning. This is the color video standard used in the United States and Japan.

What does PAL stand for?

PAL is an acronym that stands for Phase Alternate Line. The television and video standard use in most of Europe, Hong Kong and the Middle East. Consists of 625 horizontal lines at a field rate of 50 fields per second. (Two fields equals one complete Frame). Only 576 of these lines are used for picture. The rest are used for sync or extra information such as VITC and Closed Captioning.

What is video resolution?

For TV equipment and broadcasts, resolution is defined by the number of horizontal lines displayed to make up each frame of a video image. The more lines of resolution used to draw each frame of video, the more detailed and sharp the picture will be. Standard TV resolution uses 480 horizontal lines to make up each frame of video. HDTV uses either 720 lines, or 1080 lines to make each video frame.

What is video interlacing?

When TVs display video, they display a new video frame at a rate that is faster than your eye can see (from 24 to 60 frames per second, depending on the TV and broadcast). Interlacing refers to whether each of those frames contains all of the lines of video for each frame or every other line. Interlaced signals take every other line from 2 frames of video (each lasting 1/60th of a second).

How can I get rid of horizontal lines?

WinXP auto default the refresh rate at 60Hz. You need to manually set the refresh rate to 75Hz by going to "display properties" clicks on "advance", clicks on "adapter", clicks on "list of all modes" and select the resolutions from 800x600 or 1024x768 at 75Hz only. Restart the computer. If problem still persist. It's best recommended to test your LCD monitor to a different PC for result, which is to narrow down the problem is it caused by the monitor itself or it's caused by the video card on the PC.

How can I use my monitor with my Machintosh Power PC?

Please visit www.oscaroscar.com and type in SEARCH "part#AD-15MAC adapter.

If your video port is not VESA standard, you need to order this Mac adapter to hook up this monitor.

Can I modify the connector?

The alteration you'd made on the connector could damage the LCD and also cause the monitor's manufacturer's warranty to be voided. It's recommended that you order from our parts department the correct signal cable that met the FCC safety code along with a schematic manual to proper install the cable. Please contact our Parts Department for the schematic manual or part you need.
